New Interivew with New Moon Producer Wyck Godfrey

During filming of New Moon in Vancouver, various Fan Sites had the opportunity to visit the set and interview Wyck Godfrey. Wyck produced both Twilight and New Moon. In the interview he discusses many different subjects from reconstructing Bella’s house to the final scenes they shot -

[Fansites quickly ask how Chris Weitz is doing]

Wyck: [Chris Weitz] has an ability to really communicate his ideas very calmly and cleanly-and I think they all just love it…. That’s going to be one big thing for the fans, being like “Oh my Gosh, I had no idea!” None of you were here ever in Portland when we shot Bella’s house, right? (No) We completely built the exact replica.

Fansites: I know, it’s beautiful! How long did it take to build?

Wyck: Hmm, I don’t know, I think we got it up in like…well first of all what we did was we built it all in the studio lot,… and then took it apart in walls and moved it. Yeah, so the building process there was like maybe month of really getting it right. Then getting it up here was like, a week. The landscaping actually was, oddly enough, the thing that takes a lot of time. Trying to get the grass right, and finding the trees, you know? The appropriate trees…

Fansites: You’ve already shot the end?

Wyck: Yeah. We haven’t shot the Italian stuff, we’ve shot when they come back, and the part with Jacob in the road and he reminds Edward of the treaty, and her. She basically has to say,”We had a great time, but Edward’s back, you know.”

Fansites: So are you paying for Kristen’s therapy after all this?

Fansites: [laughs] She’s got to be destroyed or exhausted after the end of each day.

Wyck: Yeah, I mean that’s the thing people forget, she shoots every day. Usually in a movie, you shoot a few scenes, you get a couple days off. I mean, she has such amazing tenacity and professionalism in terms of sticking with showing up every day ready for the next scene. Well, finally, in Breaking Dawn, we have a chunk that’s in Jacob’s point of view, so she might get a break! When you write a book series from one character’s point of view, so subjectively, it’s pretty much nothing that takes place on screen that she’s not a part of.

Fansites: What’s been the most challenging thing so far?

Wyck: The most challenging thing so far, has probably been the meadow scene with Laurent. You know, with the wolves attacking. Part of what made it challenging, was to find…I mean actually what we didn’t really find in the first film, which is the meadow that is what everybody thought of when they read the books. I mean honestly, we went like an hour and a half out of town, it’s right at the foothills of the mountain, and literally we are walking through the woods, and you come to this perfectly round meadow, and we are like, “Oh my gosh, this is it!” I mean the problem was that last year we had a meadow but it was still under snow cover at the end of the shoot. So we had to scramble to find a place. Also, we shot that scene with all the mossy trees and rocks with all the moss that wasn’t really the meadow. Then we had the meadow scene in LA. (Laughs) It was awkward! The reason that it was challenging from the production stand point is that we shot the scene over the course of like three days, and one day it was perfect kind of overcast, you know, weather, and the next day it snowed four inches!

New Moon Trailer Tease Released Tomorrow!

According to HitFix.com a New Moon trailer tease will be released tomorrow -

New Moon is not out until November 20, but a brand new, full length theatrical trailer from “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” will debut this Friday, exclusively with the Summit Entertainment August 14 release, “Bandslam.”

For fans who simply can’t wait for Friday, a 10 second tease of the new trailer will be airing nationwide, starting Tuesdaday, August 12th. This tease will debut Tuesday Morning PST according to Summit.

It has been reported on various fan sites that the New Moon trailer teaser will now be 14 seconds, instead of 10. We’ll have to wait and see! Hopefully it will have Jacob on it !! Love Taylor!!

Ashley Greene was recently interviewed on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, On Air with Ryan Seacrest.

In it Ashley discuses how the Twilight Saga stars have gone from being unknown, to not being able to go anywhere without being noticed. She also talks about Eclipse, and how they are in fight training and stunt training as well!

There is also mention of Bryce Dallas Howard and how she is now playing the part of Victoria in Eclipse . According to Ashley, she only knew a half day before the news broke.

ET caught up with screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who also is the head writer for “Dexter,” to talk about what fans can expect from the next two movies.

ET: What can you tell us about ‘New Moon’ and ‘Eclipse’?

Melissa Rosenberg: It becomes bigger in scope. The first film was really a small romance in a way. There was the battle with James (Cam Gigandet) at the end. That was as big as it got. With ‘New Moon,’ we have the werewolf clan, we have the Vulturi — and in ‘Eclipse,’ there is an epic battle, so with every book, with every episode of the movie, it gets grander in scope, which is fun to write. What was great about that, too, is with the small story and the characters … to be able to grow with it and track it through, it has really been a great pleasure.

ET: Are you writing for the chemistry between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart?

Melissa Rosenberg: When I wrote ‘Twilight,’ I didn’t know who was starring in it, so I wrote in a vacuum. There was some rewriting that had to be done when we knew who they were, because I had started with more of a comedic edge and it wasn’t appropriate for those actors and the tone. I lean toward the dark comedy, witness “Dexter.” So, going into ‘New Moon’ and ‘Eclipse,’ I knew who I was writing for. I knew who the characters were and what their voices were. It got even easier with ‘Eclipse.’ [Author] Stephenie Meyer’s created the character’s chemistry; and those two actors brought so much chemistry. I don’t think the movies would have been so successful without those two actors and their chemistry. ‘Twilight’ was beautifully cast.

Dear all,

I would like to put everyone’s mind at rest and let them know that the Volturi are not naked! Jamie (Campbell-Bower) has what you might call a dry sense of humor and almost managed to convince me — which is why he’s such a good actor. Anyway, be assured that, even though we do want the look of the Volturi to be a bit of a surprise, they are always — as in the book! — fully clothed.

ReelzChannel reports that in an interview with Time, Chris Weitz reveals that there will be no cameo made by The Twilight Saga author, Stephenie Meyer, in New Moon -

he “feel(s) bad about it” and “had kind of forgotten that she had a cameo in the first one [Twilight].”

So no more screaming at the screen "Omg it's Stephenie, look there!" A cameo for Stephenie wasn't really necessary for the films but it was nice to look out for .

Rachelle LeFevre ‘Stunned’ Over the Role of Victoria Being Recast for Eclipse

Rachelle Lefevre will no longer be reprising her role as the evil Vampire, Victoria, in The Twilight Saga -Eclipse. Instead, Victoria will be played by Bryce Dallas Howard.

Access Hollywood is now reporting that Rachelle Lefevre was “shocked” and “stunned” by what has happened -

“I was stunned by Summit’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for ‘Eclipse,’” Rachelle said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

On Tuesday, Summit announced that Bryce Dallas Howard would be taking on the role in “Eclipse,” due in May 2010.

“I was fully committed to the ‘Twilight’ saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria,” Rachelle continued, explaining the turn of events that led to the casting change. “I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to ‘Barney’s Version’ is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for ‘Eclipse.’ Although the production schedule for ‘Eclipse’ is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for ‘Eclipse,’ never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.”

The star concluded her statement with a regretful tone.

“I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the ‘Twilight’ audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I’ve received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of ‘Eclipse’ only the very best,” she said.

Jackson Rathbone Grants Dying Fan’s Final Wish

Jackson Rathbone has granted one final wish to a dying young girl – giving her a behind the scenes tour of his band, 100 Monkeys, upcoming concert.

14 year old Dorothy is suffering from Terminal Cancer. And her last wish was to meet the rock group. She’ll be backstage this Saturday at their Dallas, Texas concert.

Rathbone was quoted as saying -

We’re all very lucky people and helping others makes us who we are.”

Q. How would you compare Caius to your role of Anthony in Sweeney Todd?
Campbell Bower: Anthony was a nice guy, and Caius is – I don't want to say not nice but he's a little bit more broody and dark. Brooding – not broody. He doesn't want to have a baby, he's brooding. [Laughs]

Q. How come you're not wearing your vampire red contacts right now?
Campbell Bower: They hurt. They don't hurt so much as make me feel a bit sick because my peripheral vision is very much impaired when I have them in.

Q. How would you describe Caius' look?
Campbell Bower: I had a discussion with (costume designer) Tish (Monaghan), and we figured out that Caius probably doesn't get to go out that much, so… he just steals his clothes from previous victims. The style is nice and smart and sleek and slim and – yeah, I like it. It's very Italian, and I like the shoes, particularly.

Q. How much is expanded on in the 18th century flashback scenes?
Campbell Bower: A little bit – not very much as far as the Volturi go. It's awesome. It does look really cool and it will be kind of shocking. I don't want to go too far and ruin it for anyone.

Q. Are you signed on for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn?
Campbell Bower: I possibly will be coming back for number four. Number three, not at the moment. I don't think Caius appears at all in number three.

Q. Were you prepared to be a part of the Twilight madness?
Campbell Bower: Nothing has really prepared me for that. I got off the plane the other night when I arrived and there were five guys waiting there asking if I could take a picture with them. That was weird enough! I was like, "Why? Uh, OK. Yes, of course I can. You know I'm nobody, right?" It's really interesting, and I only hope that, with the support that I'm getting from people at the moment, I will live up to it in the film. My Twitter fan base between last month and this month has gone up 6,000 people. That is craziness! That is really, really bizarre.

Q. What were you obsessed with when you were younger?
Campbell Bower: I was obsessed with girls when I was 13-years-old; I wasn't really into books. I think there's something about Stephanie's (Meyer) writing that rings so true. Obviously, people can relate to it, and teenage kids particularly can relate to the themes in the book, and that love for someone when you're that sort of age. When you're 13, 14, 15, you go, "I love you. I don't really love you, but I'm gonna say I love you anyway." [Laughs] I wasn't obsessed with anything when I was younger, really. I don't know. I'm boring.

Q. Are you going to continue with music and acting?
Campbell Bower: With acting, I'm now at a stage where it's like it's a career for me. It's still fun, but it's not something that I'm jumping in and out of. The music is kind of building up alongside that. It's not at the point that the acting is at the moment. I'm still starting fresh and trying to get people to come see shows, and labels to come and check us out, and hopefully, eventually get a record deal. I want to be able to do both side by side.

Q. Your band is called The Darling Buds, but it's not the first Darling Buds.
Campbell Bower: It's the second Darling Buds. I'm not entirely sure where I got the name from. Maybe I just took it in subconsciously at some point during my life. I was like, "That sounds cool. Oh, wait--there's another band." It's fine; the other Darling Buds haven't been around for a long time, and I think the idea with copyright is that as long as you're not misleading people into buying what they think is other people's music, then that's fine. And their stuff isn't on iTunes, hopefully.

Q. Has anyone suggested a Twilight Musical Tour?
Campbell Bower: No, no one has suggested that at all. That'd be kind of fun. Twilight Musical Tour '09—It's gonna be huge! Here we come!

Q: What do you think the New Moon fans are not expecting from this film?

Taylor: Giant fuzzy werewolves.

Kristen: No, I think they expected those.

Taylor: I honestly don’t think they’re expecting to be as heartbroken as I think they will be. I know when I read New Moon, I really felt bad for Jacob’s character and Bella, just because Jacob can’t have her and he’s trying to get her, and everything that’s going on, and her being torn and confused. I felt really bad, but actually, when I lived the experience with Kristen, it was much worse, and I just can’t imagine what the fans are going to think when they watch that.

Kristen: He feels bad for himself.

Taylor: I don’t feel bad for myself. I feel bad for Jacob and I feel bad for you.

Tinsel is what is know in the performing arts world as a triple-threat performer: she sings, dances, and acts. Actually, maybe we should call her a quadruple-threat performer because she’s also a musician.

Have you read the Twilight Saga books? If yes, which book is your favorite and why?
I have read New Moon, and I’m reading Eclipse right now. I also own Breaking Dawn. I’ll have to get back to you on which one is my favorite.

What was the audition process like for you?
I auditioned in L.A. with the director Chris Weitz and casting directors Rene Haynes and Joseph Middleton. Filming was great, Chris is a very warm and talented director. I can’t wait to see his vision of New Moon come to life.

Did you, along with the other cast members who were also in the Quileuete roles, spend any time building back-stories or relationships?
I built my back-story before I met the boys, I already had an idea of who Emily was. Meeting and hanging out with the boys only helped build upon what my prior thoughts already were. I think when we all hung out the back-story just was there in who we were. Most of us are pretty similar to our characters.

How long is the process of getting into makeup and costume for Emily and can you describe it?
It takes hours to perfect the make-up and you’ll have to wait for the movie to see the magic that the makeup/SPX department created

Your MySpace has pictures and videos of you performing traditional music and dance. What art form do you prefer: acting, music, or dance?
I don’t really prefer one over the other, they’re all just different aspects of my artistry: I love them equally.

You seem to gravitate toward roles where you play strong women with interesting pasts. What types of things excite you when considering a role?
I never really realized that I did gravitated towards that till you mentioned it, then I thought about it, and I guess I do. Lol. Material that I get excited about, are the ones that give me an opportunity to break stereotypes.

Can you describe what working with Chris Weitz is like?
He’s an actor’s director, he gets us probably because he is an actor. He’s a very attentive and warm man; I hope I get the pleasure to work with him again in the future.

There are some major, powerhouse actors in the New Moon cast. Did you ever find yourself getting a little star-struck or tongue tied around any of them?
Nope. They’re just normal people.

How would you describe your vision of Emily Young?
Oh god, I don’t think I’m allowed to right a novel for this interview. Lol. So let me summarize in one sentence. She’s a survivor, the heart and soul of the team, when they’re down she brings them up. She’s the one you want to have in your corner.

Do you have anything more that you’d like to share with Twilight fans?
I’d like to thank them for all the support I’ve received and I’m glad I get to be on this journey with them. HUGZ.

So I stand up thinking Taylor never arrived basically thinking he never came to comic-con, then when i was about to walk away when he arrives from far away then he stares for a moment probably counting the fans, and walks over i was freaking out, he singned autographs he was not even 12 inches far away , but i didnt wanted to act crazy, So I asked him for a hand shake , and his security guard said “you cant touch him” out loud I was embarressed, Taylor just stared at me and smiled and hand shaked me then i asked him for a picture, he said yes, I took two pictures in my camera then i showed him the picture and said “we Look hot” we laughed then somebody told him it was time to leave i gave him a hug then said thanks and he smiled I was shaking!

Both Mine And Holly's Initial Reactions To New Moon Clips

Yesterday both me and Holly watched the 2 clips from New Moon which was released at ComicCon ; heres what we thought of them :

Holly: The two clips look better then the actual trailer which was released, in the clip with Jacob , Taylor's acting was good ; although unfortunatly Kristen's heavy breathing returned which wasn't very good. The second clip with Alice in Italy was good as it left it at a cliffhanger ; it looked well done.

Ellen: I liked the first clip best , for obvious reasons (ahem ...Jacob), i think that it will definatly convert a few Team Edwards to either Jacob or Switzerland! I especially liked the whole taking his shirt off bit and i actually don't mind his long hair anymore . The second clip in Italy i thought was okay but it was never my favourite bit in the book so i wasn't as exited but it does still look good. Although i thought Bella would be a bit more clumsy when she was running, maybe that will be included more in the actual film!

There are some new interviews with New Moon director Chris Weitz, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and actress Ashley Greene from Comic-Con by Hollywood.com . There are several interesting tidbits, including Weitz revealing–

Have you made any changes to the vampire makeup you saw in the first movie? Weitz: There’s more consistency between shots, if I were to be just coldblooded about it.The Volturi have a slightly different look, because they’re a different breed of vampire altogether. The diamond skin we’re remaking. It’s gonna be groovy.

How many versions of the wolf did you have, and cg wise, how long did that take to come up with? Weitz: Well, we knew very quickly that we wanted it to look like a wolf, just a very, very big one. Once you’ve made that crucial decision you don’t have to spend much time on look with R&D [Research and Development] and the concept and the renderings you usually have to do with monsters and those type of things. Getting very tedious details stuff like fur, the muscles, the fat over the muscles, the way the light is with the fur, that stuff takes months. We have a huge advantage in that it’s Phil Tippet’s studios. Phil Tippett is one of the greatest visual effects artists in the world.

The New Moon panel at Comic-Con has concluded. Highlights from G4TV’s coverage by Stephen Johnson include:

(after first exclusive clip) Uh oh…Jacob took off his shirt in the clip and the fans went nuts-o-crazy-go-nuts.
Fan to Rob: Would you ever do open-mic nights for music, ever again? Rob: Yes. I’d love to do it again. It’s good for your soul.
Fan: for Taylor, how was it filming in different weather conditions, half-naked? Taylor: It was cold. There was a day when I was only wearing jean shorts (Cheers from crowd.) It was really really cold, but I’m doing it all for you guys!
I should point out that all questions are interupted by screams of “I love you!” and “You’re awesome!” and “wooo!” at random.
Rob: Edward’s who character is about restraint, so I always found it difficult to move as the character. So in the new movie, a lot of the shots are set up so that I can move as little a possible. The camera moves more often.
Chris Weitz is going to show another scene! The fans go insane. The scene: Alice and Bella racing to save Edward. You remember that scene right?

Rotten Tomatoes has an extensive write-up on the scenes that were shown, including these spoilers for the first clip:

Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) and Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) are bent over an antique light blue motorcycle. Jacob wears jeans, a brown t-shirt, and his hair is long. As Bella sits on the motorcycle, Jacob guides her hands (touching!) over the handles. “Brake. Clutch. Gas,” he reminds her. Bella revs the engine. “Slowly release the clutch,” says Jacob.

Suddenly, Bella sees the translucent apparition of Edward, a concerned look on his face, standing in front of her. We can see him, but also see through him. Bella takes off on the bike.

As she zooms down the road, Bella gains speed. She zooms by another apparition of Edward, standing in her path. She speeds by another. Losing focus, Bella swerves and falls from the bike, hitting her head on a rock.

Jacob speeds over to Bella on his own bike, coming to a stop with a flourish. He hops off the bike and rushes to Bella’s side. She is bewildered, and blood gushes from a gash on her forehead.

“Are you trying to get yourself killed?” Jacob asks. Bella apologizes for the blood, but it doesn’t bother Jacob.

He takes a step back, the camera following his every move. Jacob strips off his shirt, revealing a six-pack, and bends down to dab Bella’s wound with it. Their faces come very close.
“You’re so beautiful,” she tells him. Emotion flashes across his face.

In August she filming for her new movie so they will stay in Greece until the end of July and will return together in LA. Paris wants to stay with her and encourage her and because he can’t stay away from her.

New Moon director Chris Weitz gives his take on the addition of fashion model Noot Seear to the role of Heidi in the film–

The striking beauty is stepping up her career and appearing in the second installment of the Twilight films, entitled New Moon, where she will play a cliquey vampire named Heidi who runs in the exclusive Volturi circle. And with those killer green peepers and razor-sharp cheekbones, it’s unsurprising her main talent is luring human prey.

New Moon director Chris Weitz told WWD : “We wanted someone who had an unearthly and unlikely beauty, but could also convey humour and menace. It’s rare to find a stunningly attractive person who also happens to have the ability to act.” According to reports, Weitz also considered Beverly Hills 90210 actress AnnaLynne McCord for the role.

Noot also talks about the continued difficulties with the contacts she had to wear in order to play the role of Heidi–

She admits she was worried her modeling years would hinder her acting chops. “I was really scared because you’re not allowed to look in the camera [when filming a movie], but in the modeling world, you’re supposed to,” recalls Seear, whose problem was solved by the heavy-duty violet contacts she had to wear on-screen. “I literally couldn’t see 2 feet in front of me. They would tell me, ‘Look at Kristen [Stewart],’ and I was like, ‘OK. Where is she?’”

HitFix New Moon Vancouver Set Visit: Day 2

HitFix has Day 2 of its behind-the-scenes coverage of New Moon filming in Vancouver from May, including some new scenes with the Volturi as well as an unexpected scene involving a truce between the Cullens and Volturi–

After a few minutes, they change the angle of the camera and we see Jane — in the same scene — inflicting pain on Edward. Yes, she’s the cause and she does it with little gesturing and without speaking a word. A powerful vampire indeed.

The production has a lot to get through today, so the shot then changes to a close up on Bella who is being held by Alec stopping her from racing to Edward’s side.

“Please stop,” Stewart says, “Don’t hurt him.”

At first, during rehearsal as the camera operator sets up the shot, Stewart says the lines comically with deadpan effect causing some snickers from the crew. But when the take is ready for real, she says it with the expected dramatic resolve. The coverage also expands to find Alice Cullen (Ashley Greene) being allowed to race to Edward’s side. She gesture’s that he’s “OK.”

While Weitz talks to the actors on the set about the next shot, we take time to talk to newcomer Chrisopher Heyerdahl who plays Marcus, a member of the Volturi. The role is a huge break for the struggling British actor, but he seemed to be playing it cool. Intriguingly, he also revealed a flashback scene had been shot, including his character, Aro and Dr. Carlisle Cullen (”Nurse Jackie’s” Peter Facinelli) that set up the “truce” between the two parties way back in the 18th Century. To the other writers on the visit, this seemed to be a scene they didn’t expect would make the movie and were pretty psyched about it being included.

Chris Weitz Says Muse, Band of Skulls, Radiohead on New Moon Soundtrack

New Moon Director Chris Weitz has a new interview with the LA Times where he details, among other things, some of the bands we’ll see on the New Moon soundtrack–including a repeat performance from Muse and newcomers to the Twilight universe Radiohead and Band of Skulls.

Driving home from a day of post-production, Weitz says he understands what’s at stake. There are 450 visual effects shots to complete, in addition to the score and the movie’s soundtrack, which he says will feature songs from Radiohead, Muse and Band of Skulls, among others. But the sequences he’s readying for the event — one, an action scene that will feature some of those effects, the other, a love scene sure to elicit hysteria from the crowd — will be done in time.

Solomon Trimble at Quileute Days

Solomon Trimble took part in the annual Quileute Days performing a traditional dance and answering questions for visitors and Twilight fans.

“[Solomon]…joined a group of 45 dancers and singers from the Quileute, Quinault and North Star tribes in a 2 ½-hour cultural arts program. He wore black shorts with a red and white cape gown, and carried a decorative wolf headpiece in the ceremonial dance ‘Into our home’.

“We are honored to have you into our home,” said Sonny Woodruff, who organized the dance with tribal vice chairwoman Bonita Cleveland. After the dance, Trimble gave Cleveland a robe he received from his mother.

“My mom said you have to give it back to me in 50 years when you’re done with it,” Trimble said.

“I did not expect anything like that,” Cleveland said of Trimble’s gift. “I feel very honored.”

As part of the Quileute’s tradition of returning a gift with another gift, Cleveland gave Trimble a robe depicting an eagle and a whale.”

He will be appearing along with his castmates from The Prisoner: Jim Caviezel and Lennie James from 12:45pm-1:45pm in Autograph Area 7.

According to AMC’s press release, ““The Prisoner,” a re-imagination of the 1960s cult classic created by the late Patrick McGoohan, premieres this November on AMC.”

Kings Of Leon Talk Soundtrack Rumors

Entertainment Weekly has an article about the latest New Moon soundtrack rumors involving Radiohead singer Thom Yorke and Kings of Leon.

Speculation about who will appear on the New Moon soundtrack heated up this week after director Chris Weitz dropped a few big names to a RottenTomatoes.com interviewer: “The criterion will still always be what’s right for the movie at that given moment, but Thom Yorke is interested; we might, if we’re very lucky, get Kings of Leon to do something.” Well, well!

But don’t get too excited just yet. Yorke’s camp would neither confirm nor deny the Radiohead frontman’s reported involvement to EW at this time. The Kings of Leon connection, meanwhile, seems even more tenuous. “Not as of right now, no,” KoL lead singer Caleb Followill tells EW’s Whitney Pastorek when asked if his band will contribute to the Twilight sequel. “I haven’t had any time to write any music, we’ve been so busy… I would have to write a song in my hotel room, which I think we might could do, but I don’t know. As of right now I’m more focused on getting some rest and writing another album.”

First Interview with Xavier Samuel aka Riley in Eclipse

The Australian radio show Hot30 has the first ever interview with the newly cast Riley in Eclipse, who will be played by Aussie newcomer Xavier Samuel.

The interview with 25-year old Xavier begins at around 7:30 in the audio, where he confirms that he will indeed play Riley. Here’s what else we learn–

It’s his first American film role
He made his initial audition tape in Sydney, then flew to Vancouver and LA to meet the crew, and just found out yesterday that he landed the role
Xavier watched Twilight for the first time during the plane trip to North America

Xavier tells the Daily Telegraph that he hasn’t started reading the books yet, and plans to begin immediately. He says that–

I’m in a bit of a daze but it’s a wonderful bit of news,” Samuel exclusively told Confidential from Los Angeles last night.

HitFix has an interview from when New Moon was being filmed in Vancouver, and it describes Taylor Lauter’s first introduction to director David Slade–

Q: Have you had a chance to meet David Slade yet? Has he come to set or met anybody?

He came up here, briefly. I was in the middle of a stunt rehearsal, and he showed up with Wyck, one of our producers, and Wyck was like, ‘Hey, this is David.’ And at that point he wasn’t signed on to the film and I had no idea who he was. Then all of a sudden he started putting up these ‘camera hands’ in my face; ‘Yeah, I think this would be a good angle right here.’ And I’m just sitting there going, ‘What is he doing?’ Then finally, as he’s doing it, Wyck says, ‘Oh, I probably should tell you who this is. This is David Slade. He’s probably going to be doing ‘Eclipse.” I was like, ‘Oh, that makes sense now!’

Cameron Bright recently sat down with MSN and discussed how filming went as well as working with actress Dakota Fanning:

Q: Did you get to talk to Dakota before you started?

A: I actually met her a few years ago…[he confers with his Mom]…at the premiere of “Thank You for Smoking,” so I met her briefly. And I actually didn’t think she’d remember me at first, and then I got here, and she says, “I think we’ve met somewhere before,” so that was kind of cool. I haven’t talked to her before, other than that one time, and that was for like, five seconds. I’ve only been here for two days, so I haven’t really talked to anybody. There’s a dinner tonight for everybody in the cast, luckily I got here in time for that.

New Moon Chocolate!!

The newest piece of New Moon merchandise is–get this–a creme filled milk chocolate heart. The chocolate hearts feature three different packages with the faces of Edward Cullen, Bella Swan and Jacob Black. The candy is named “Heart’s Desire” and is made by Skybar.

Inside the package, you’ll find the same chocolate design in all three wrappers. The shape of the chocolate is two hearts on top of a base, the top heart has “Bella” written on it and the heart below it has the Cullen family crest.

They cost $0.79 each and are “quite tasty as well.”

If i lived in America i would buy the Jacob one :)

New Moon Bookmarks !!

We now have pictures of all four New Moon bookmarks, including a brand new shot of Jacob, a new arrangement of the wolfpack with a prominent image of the tribe’s tattoo in the background.

The bookmarks are scheduled for release on August 15th.

One scene included this pretty cool dialogue:

What a happy surprise! Bella is alive after all. Isn’t that wonderful. I love a happy ending. They are so rare.”

Pausing, he notes to Edward as he surveys Bella, “Her blood appeals to you so much. It makes me thirsty. How can you stand to be so close to her?”

Edward replies, “It’s not without it’s difficulties. But now you know everything, so get on with it.”

“Fascinating,” Aro says, “I’d love to see if you are an exception to my thoughts as well.”

A dramatic moment as he tries to read Bella’s mind. And then disgust as he realizes he can’t. “Interesting. I see nothing.”

New Moon Set Report

This third new set report today has a lot on the Volturi, the cast relationships, and Taylor’s extreme workout regime:

He had to take on a Michael Phelps diet to gain the weight.

“I’d wake up and my trainer would be like, ‘You need to have six egg whites, bacon, and toast. It became a lot. That was the hardest part, especially putting something in my mouth every two hours,” Lautner says. “At one point, my trainer was literally like, ‘Put anything in your mouth! Go to McDonald’s. Get the biggest shake possible. I just need get calories in you!’ Because my body fat at that time was only 7 ½ percent.”
